Thank you for joining us on our journey to Guatemala City! We believe that this journey will our lives with purpose as we engage in God’s plan to reach the world with hope.
So who are we?
Abby is originally from Boise, ID, and Preston is originally from Aiken, SC. Abby and Preston met each other at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in the Boston area.
Abby has had a heart for Latin America. She studied Spanish in college and has done mission work in Peru, Costa Rica, and Uruguay. Abby and Preston participated in a Spanish-speaking small group together while they were in the Boston area. Abby helped their church start a non-profit organization called Open Door Immigration Services, which helps immigrants find a path to residency or citizenship in the US. This ministry served many Spanish-speakers in the local community.
Preston has had a heart to share God’s hope to those who feel they have no hope. Since college, Preston has had a desire to make an impact on the world. He believes the best way he can do that is to tell others about God’s hope for the world and to teach and prove that this hope is our best hope. Preston is seminary-trained and has studied and currently works in Instructional Design for Higher Education. He hopes to use his training and experience to disciple the next generation of ministry leaders to share God’s hope in their communities and to reach the world with that hope.
After a few years of marriage, Abby and Preston both felt called to mission work abroad as a family, and after working with TEAM through the application process felt called to Latin America and ultimately to Guatemala City.
In Guatemala City, they will provide biblical and theological training to local pastors in the city by teaching at SETECA and partnering with the TEAM church plant, Iglesia Reforma.
What is our hope for Guatemala?
We believe that the power of the Gospel will transform the hearts of Guatemalans and free them from the bondage of sin and death, bringing new life to their country and to the whole world. We long to see Guatemala become a beacon of hope, not from anything that we could do, but from simply knowing and experiencing God’s love in Jesus Christ.
